The passengers had been paroled or released from the state prison in Huntsville. Some wore ankle bracelet monitors.

They were aboard a Greyhound charter headed to a bus terminal in Dallas, but wound up 60 miles short.

“In 31 years in law enforcement I’ve never seen anything like this,” Corsicana Police Sgt. Lamoin Lawhon told the Corsicana Daily Sun.

Police said the bus was chartered from Greyhound Bus Lines Inc. The driver pulled over in front of a convenience store around 4 p.m. and told the passengers her allotted driving time was up and another driver was on the way.

A clerk in the convenience store called police. Officers arrived to find the former prisoners milling around the bus.

Police said dispatchers exchanged several phone calls with Greyhound officials and the Texas Department of Criminal Justice in Austin.

Lawhon and two other officers stayed with the bus and the parolees. Just before 7 p.m., a second bus arrived with three drivers – including the one who had abandoned her passengers in the first place, Lawhon said.

Greyhound spokesman Dustin Clark declined to identify the driver who left the bus. He said company officials were investigating the incident.

“It is a very serious matter,” he said.

Clark said drivers have to follow strict guidelines on consecutive working hours and rest periods.

Police said there were no incidents involving the passengers while they were stranded.

“Their behavior was exemplary,” said Officer Travis Wallace.

The church released the statement, “the process of restoring Ted Haggard is incomplete.” The good Reverend Haggard himself requested an end to the purge after enduring a year of therapy from Phoenix Pastor Tommy Barnett.

Because the process of curing homosexuality is of a confidential nature, no further statements will be released by the church in order to protect Rev. Haggard’s continued homosexual status.

Anthony J. Figueroa of 1359 Carr Circle was charged with grand theft after Palm Bay police were called to the Staples store at 1595 Palm Bay Rd. to investigate reports of stolen supplies, reports show.

Figueroa is expected to go to court next month on the charge, records show.

Palm Bay police said that Figueroa went to the Staples and set aside a number of items in the business supply store.

He later returned and convinced a store clerk that he had already paid for the supplies and then removed them, reports show.

Figueroa was arrested Oct. 25 after store managers contacted police, reports show. He was booked into the Brevard County Detention Center, where he later bonded out, records show.

TEANECK, N.J. (1010 WINS)  — Police in Teaneck arrested a man for allegedly having sex with a corpse.

Anthony Merino, a 24-year-old lab technician, was arrested Sunday after a security guard saw him having sex with a dead 92-year-old woman in the Holy Name Hospital morgue, police said. The suspect works part time at Holy Name Hospital, holds a full time job at Overlook Hospital and another part time position at Bio Reference Labs in New Jersey.

Merino is charged with desecrating human remains in the second degree. His bail has been set at $400,000. 

Merino is also expected to undergo a psychological evaluation and is restricted from working in a health care facility.

Southwest again tried to make a passenger change his clothes and again has been forced to apologize, reports the St. Petersburg Times. Flight attendants asked Joe Winiecki, 39, to remove a shirt promoting “Captn. Jack Hoff’, MasterBaiter,” a fictional fish store located in the “Virgin Islands.”

Sure, the shirt is tacky and eye-roll inducing, but no one appointed Southwest the fashion police. Southwest needs to more clearly communicate the situations where it is appropriate to approach customers about their clothing. Their own policy says its only in situations of indecent exposure, extreme vulgarity and clothes with threatening language.
